MHI Vestas Achieves First Power at Deutsche Bucht

Grid connection established as the first of 33 turbines generates power.
MHI Vestas and cooperative partners can celebrate that power is now being exported from Northland Power’s Deutsche Bucht wind farm into the German grid. In early June the first turbine was successfully installed and until today, 21 out of 33 MHI Vestas turbines have been safely erected in the German North Sea.
The construction process, now in the final stage of installation, continues step by step and when fully commissioned, MHI Vestas’ 33 V164-8.4 MW turbines will be the most powerful wind turbines operating in Germany, supplying 328,000 German households with renewable energy.
Deutsche Bucht, located 95 km northwest of the island of Borkum, is scheduled for commercial operation later this year. The project includes a two-turbine pilot plan and will be the first globally to test the hybrid design of a Mono Bucket foundation structure under commercial operating conditions.
