Press Release:

Vestas secures 39 MW order in Estonia

News release from Northern & Central Europe
Hamburg, 29. June 2022

Vestas has received a 39 MW order from Utilitas, for the Saarde wind project in Estonia.

The order includes the supply, installation, and commissioning of nine units of V150-4.2 MW turbines in 4.3 MW operating mode and Vestas will also service the turbines under a 30-year Active Output Management 5000 (AOM 5000) service agreement.

“We are delighted to have been selected to supply our V150 turbines for the Saarde project in Estonia, continue the partnership with Utilitas, and to help the country accelerate its energy transition,” said Juan Furones, Vice President for Vestas Sales North & West. “Our nine turbines will be the most modern and effective turbines in Estonia to date. In addition, Utilitas has entrusted us with a 30-year full-scope service agreement that will continue to expand our service footprint in the region for the long-term.”

“No new wind turbines have been installed in Estonia for eight years now. The technology of wind turbines has developed rapidly during this time and the Vestas wind turbines we acquire are the most modern and efficient. Compared to ten years ago, fewer wind turbines can now produce substantially more energy,” affirmed Priit Koit, Utilitas Group CEO. “Utilitas is aiming to reduce the use of imported natural gas and to achieve carbon neutrality in the next five years and wind parks play an important role in this process.”

Deliveries and installation at the Saarde wind project are expected to begin in the second quarter of 2023, while commissioning is planned for the second half of 2023.

The project is located in Saarde, a municipality in Pärnu County, South-West Estonia.
