Meet Magdalena Karpińska
From an Unconventional Background to Wind Energy
My name is Magdalena Karpińska, and I currently work as a Global Project Manager at Vestas, leading the technology transfer project for the V172 blade to our factory in Goleniów. I have been part of the wind energy industry for over 13 years.
My journey began at LM Wind Power, later continued at GE Renewable Energy, and in 2025 — following the integration process when Vestas acquired the LM/GE factory — I officially became part of Vestas.
Although I am now deeply connected to renewable energy, my academic background is completely different. I hold a master’s degree in industrial chemistry, which originally had no relation to wind energy. I started my professional journey as a Document Controller, then gradually grew into a Senior Engineer.
In 2020, I decided to shift my career path toward Project Management, and since then I have been working on global projects, gaining extensive experience in cross‑functional and multicultural collaboration.
What Matters More Than Experience
What motivated me to join the wind industry was the opportunity to work with people on an international level, to be part of large global projects, and, of course, to work in a field that has a real impact on the world.
When people ask whether previous wind‑energy experience is required, I always say absolutely not. I had no industry background myself when I started. What matters at Vestas is your mindset — curiosity, willingness to learn, and the drive to contribute.
My advice to anyone interested in joining is simple: don’t let a different educational or professional background discourage you. Vestas provides great learning opportunities and a strong support network.
Growing Through Challenge and Purpose
One of my most significant learning experiences has been leading global, complex projects. Working across cultures, aligning diverse competencies, and navigating technical and organizational challenges has helped shape my leadership style and broaden my perspective beyond engineering or traditional project management.
What I love most about my job is the combination of purpose, people, and challenge. I work with passionate, talented colleagues from around the world, every day brings something new, and I know that my work contributes to something meaningful.
