OptiSpeed® allows the rotational speed of the rotor to vary from the nominal rotational speed by up to 60 per cent, and by up to 30 per cent above and below the synchronous speed. This results in increased production in changing wind conditions. It also minimises undesired fluctuations in the electricity grid and the load on the vital parts of the structure.
Increase your energy production by five per cent
The OptiSpeed®-technology is advanced, but its purpose is simple: To maximise the turbine’s energy production. OptiSpeed® ensures the exploitation of energy from strong gusts of wind, since the surplus energy is used as rotational energy.
Overall, OptiSpeed® increases annual energy production by around 5 per cent in comparison with turbines without variable rotational speed. The system also minimises strain on the gearbox, blades and tower, reduces the noise level and delivers top-quality current.
