Introducing the office

Since the establishment of Vestas Asia Pacific headquarters in 2006 and the Group IT and Technology R&D centres in 2008, Vestas has increased its staff strength to around 200 employees in Singapore. Instead of having several locations in the city, Vestas decided in mid-2010 that it would be beneficial to house everyone under one roof to increase even greater collaboration and cooperation between the employees of Vestas Singapore.

Vestas opened its Vestas Singapore office at Mapletree Business City (MBC) in 2011 concurrently with the Global Wind Day which is a worldwide event that occurs annually on 15th June.

Singapore offers a multi-cultural and international business environment in the region’s most central location, which offers Vestas the perfect environment to build stronger relationships with regional customers, suppliers, government, media and universities.

A little history

Relocating Vestas Asia Pacific from Ringkøbing, Denmark, to Singapore in August 2006 was a significant move in positioning Vestas in a growing market. In the past, the wind industry was primarily focused on the European and American markets, but the biggest growth potential now lies in Asia Pacific.

Tech R&D Singapore was established in the first half of 2007, originally located at the harbour Front and has moved several times due to a growing staff.

Singapore is a leading international business centre, which makes it a perfect place for Vestas Asia Pacific. This move has enabled the company to improve its understanding of the area’s customer needs and adapt to cultural practices, which has led to strengthened local competencies and decentralized decision-making processes.

What’s it like to work here

The dynamic and culturally diverse working environment makes Vestas Singapore a very interesting place to work. Currently, there are 16 different cultures represented at Vestas Singapore. Since the Asia Pacific office serves as a regional office for all of Asia and other countries, there are always visitors in the office. Many of the employees in this office travel a lot as well.

Most employees dine away from the office at one of the many delicious choices in Mapletree Business City. There is a regular shuttle bus that takes employees to the nearby eateries in Vivo city and the nearest MRT station at Harbourfront.

The availability of a sky gym with a swimming pool at Mapletree Business City allows the employees to engage in healthy lifestyle during lunch or after office hours.

Local ‘benefits’

Our Staff Recreation Club arranges different lunches throughout the year where we get together and celebrate cultural festivals from around the world, for example Chinese New Year, Hari Raya Puasa, Deepavali, and Christmas. They also arrange a yearly dinner and dance as well as different social events like charity runs, soccer games, bowling, and go-kart evenings. We also have coffee, tea, and fresh fruit provided for us every day.

In order to encourage employees to keep fit with regular exercise, the company reimburse employees’ fitness club, gym, or sport class enrolment fees.

Sights and surroundings

Located just five minutes from the HarbourFront Precinct and 10 minutes from the Central Business District (CBD) is the upcoming Mapletree Business City (MBC). Conceived as an integrated business hub featuring a first-class business park with Grade A specifications and complete with recreation amenities, MBC provides for a well-planned work and play environment.

In addition to its landscaped open spaces and water features, MBC has supporting amenities such as a multi-purpose hall, seminar and meeting rooms, an air-conditioned food court, sky gym, amenities centre and a childcare centre.

Fully sheltered walkways connect Alexandra Precinct internally, providing easy access to leisure and dining facilities as well as bus-stops and MRT. Just two MRT stops away, is the vibrant HarbourFront Precinct, a thriving waterfront business and leisure hub, where VivoCity, Singapore's iconic shopping destination is located. Five-star hotel facilities to accommodate esteemed international business guests are just across at Sentosa Island. When the Integrated Resort begins operations, this upmarket business centre will thrive on the global buzz and generate a truly vibrant experience unlike any other.
