Introducing the Magdeburg foundry
The Magdeburg foundry is located in the southeast district of Magdeburg, near the Elbe River and the lake called Salbker See. Downtown is reachable by car in 15 minutes and by tram in 25 minutes. Magdeburg is one of four foundry locations: the others are located in Sweden (Lidköping and Guldsmedshyttan) and Norway (Kristiansand). Our employees come from China, Indonesia, Lithuania, Kirgiz, and many other places from around the world. There are presently around 110 Vestas employees working at the Magdeburg foundry.
A little history
The foundry has had been at this location since 1908. We celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2008. The foundry experienced a long and turbulent time between 1989 and 2004, which ended when Vestas included the foundry in the Vestas world in 2004.

What’s it like to work here
A dynamic and culturally diverse work environment makes it interesting to work here. According to local employees, it’s always exciting to see how the casting of a model ‘V80’ turbine tower turns out.

Socially, there are also a lot of benefits and good traditions like our annual Christmas and summer parties. Employees at this location also have a nice advantage of being close to Berlin, Leipzig and Hanover.
Sights and surroundings
The foundry is located near downtown Magdeburg. Employees can enjoy all that the city has to offer culturally and socially. There is a wide range of great restaurants, cafes, shops, and historical sights. In 2005 Magdeburg celebrated its 1200th anniversary. This wealth of history means visitors can find centuries of churches and the architecture that accompanies them, the 800-year old gothic cathedral, and many, many other points of interest.
