Introducing the Hamburg facilities
The Vestas office in Hamburg is home to Vestas Germany and is located in the area of Eppendorf, close to the Hamburg airport and the famous Hamburg Zoo Hagenbecks Tierpark. Hosting many different departments and positions, the Hamburg office presents itself as a very modern and open office. Presently we have around 60 Vestas employees working at this location, occupying two floors in the building, where also other companies have their offices.
Being the second biggest city of Germany, Hamburg offers nearly everything for the international workforce located in this office. 12 different nationalities work together in the Hamburg office, so you can hear your colleagues speak in Danish, Dutch, French, Spanish, English, German and other languages on a daily basis. Two different cafés and a canteen close to the office provide all employees with delicious meals. Some of the colleagues meet for after-work events in Hamburg on a regular basis, watch a soccer or hockey game or enjoy the beach restaurants in summer together. This is a great way for new colleagues to be integrated with their new colleagues.
A little history
Vestas opened its first office in Hamburg in 2006. At that time only the Sales department moved to Hamburg in order to be closer to the customers and nearer to the airport. During the following years however a lot of colleagues joined the office and it was decided to move into a bigger office. The new office, located in Eppendorf, which is a real nice part of Hamburg, was opened in 2008. Since then the office has grown in size and more colleagues move to Hamburg every month.
At first, we only rented one floor in the building, but it quickly turned out not to be enough to accommodate everybody needed in this location, so only one year after opening the new office a second floor was rented. Colleagues from all over the world move to Hamburg; Canada, USA, Spain and Russia are only some examples.

What’s it like to work here
Our open plan office allows for Vestas employees here to easily get in touch with their colleagues in the different departments.
“As different departments are working at the same floor, it’s easier to exchange knowledge and information cross-department. This is a huge advantage of the Hamburg office as it enables the communication.” says a colleague from the People & Culture department in Hamburg.
Many different nationalities are present here and various languages are spoken in the offices. This of course influences greatly on our culture and we all enjoy the benefits of an international atmosphere. Being close to the airport allows smooth travelling and there are different busses connecting to the next metro station. The famous quarter “Winterhude” is not far away; offering great opportunities for nice cafés and shopping after working hours. Winterhude is famous for its cafés, bars and restaurants, old houses and green parks.
Local benefits
Have you ever tried to get a parking place somewhere in the Hamburg city? This is nearly impossible! But not at the Hamburg office. In the garage belonging to the building where Vestas is located, several parking places are reserved for Vestas employees and visitors. For all those coming by public transportation, the bus stop is only 2 minutes from the entrance and a bicycle stand gives the possibility to leave the bike. This is an extra perk that all the employees here cherish a lot.
Sights and surroundings
Very close to the Hamburg office, you can find the famous Hamburg Zoo “Hagenbecks Tierpark”, host to a great many exotic animals from all parts of the planet, including the world famous ice bear Knut.
Additionally, you can find the Stadtpark nearby, which is the largest public park in Hamburg, including the planetarium. Hamburg is offering a lot of possibilities for the private pleasure. Just come and find out!
