Introducing the Berlin office

The office is located in Berlin-Mitte, the central district of Berlin. It is situated at the crossing of “Friedrichstrasse” and “Unter den Linden” ("under the linden trees"), two of the most interesting shopping and business streets of the German capital. “Unter den Linden” runs east–west from the site of the former Stadtschloss (Royal Palace) at the Lustgarten Park to Pariser Platz and Brandenburg Gate. Right here some of the major embassies can be found (FRA, UK , USA). During World War II “Unter den Linden” was part of the Soviet sector of the city. All Ministries as well as the Reichstag building with the German Parliament and the “Bundeskanzleramt” (Chancellery) are within short distance.

The office is located on the 5th floor of a recently built business complex, “Upper Eastside Berlin”. It fulfils the latest standards of security and technical equipment. It has got a huge foyer with a lounge area, three open-plan offices with room for up to 30 people, five meeting rooms, four of them equipped with Smartboards and one with a modern videoconference system. All meeting rooms have balconies, which offer a picturesque view of the Brandenburg Gate on the right and of the Rotes Rathaus (Red Townhall) and Alexanderplatz on the left. Three of the meeting rooms can be merged into one big meeting room with capacity for up to 35 people. Currently, 12 employees from the Sales and Sales Service Area Region East Germany are working in the office.

A little history

Having a Vestas office in Berlin is very recent. Our location was established in July 2010 and is still under construction and in development, so more people will move here soon.

Departments

These two departments can be found in Berlin:
• Vestas Sales Region East
• Sales Service Region East

What’s it like to work here

Vestas is moving faster towards a peripheral sales structure.

“We want to be closer to our customers”, says Sales Manager Region East Alexander Siepelmeyer. He is building up a new team in the Berlin office. “The office in Berlin is a major step for Vestas as we can intensify our contacts to the embassies and the Ministeries, says Alexander Siepelmeyer. “I’m glad that we found this beautiful location in the middle of Berlin. We’ve got a perfect connection to both the train station and the airports.”

The working atmosphere is harmonic and respectful; all employees are working hand in hand. Especially the fact that the After Sales Department has been merged into the Sales Department facilitates is great for providing better help in solving the customers’ problems. The absolute focus is on the customers’ needs, everyone is working hard on satisfying them.

Local benefits

After work you can have dinner in one of the cosy restaurants in the back roads of Friedrichstrasse or close to “Hackescher Markt”. In the summer you can have a drink at the Bundespressestrand (an artificial beachclub at the Spree River) that is opposite the train station in Berlin or you go to the Monbijou Park and have a beer close to the Spree. A pedestrian bridge connects the park with the Museumsinsel (Museum Island), close to the Bode Museum and Pergamon Museum. Museumsinsel is the name of the northern half of an island in the Spree River in the central district of Berlin. It received its name for a complex of internationally renowned museums that occupy this part of the island.

In very close distance from the office you’ll also find the “Gendarmenmarkt” that hosts a big Christmas market every year during winter time. This can be absolutely recommended. The centre of the Gendarmenmarkt is the statue of Germany's poet Friedrich Schiller. There are also several open air cinemas and theatre and concert halls for example Friedrichstadtpalast and a 3D-cinema at Potsdamer Platz near the office.
If you follow the Friedrichstrasse, you get to Checkpoint Charlie. This name was given by the Western Allies to the best-known Berlin Wall crossing point between East Germany and West Germany during the Cold War. Today, you can still see the old crossing point and there is a museum next to it.

Sights and surroundings

The office is situated in the middle of some of the most important landmarks in Berlin such as the Brandenburg Gate, the Gendarmenmarkt and the Siegessäule (Victory Column). It’s closely connected to the main train station in Berlin (Hauptbahnhof). There are several leisure activities only a few minutes away from the office. You can either do a boat trip along the spree or you visit the Reichstag building or experience great exhibitions in one of the many fabulous museums like the Neue Nationalgalerie for modern art. Every year for two weeks in October famous sights will be shown in a different light at the Berlin Festival of Lights.
