Introducing the Headquarters for Vestas Towers A/S, and production site in Varde
The Varde site is situated in the countryside along the Varde Å, or Varde River, in the little town dating back to the 11th century that has a current population of approximately 13,000.
Presently employing around 350 people from all over the world, this Production Business Unit (PBU) is responsible for producing and supplying the tower portion of the Vestas wind turbine – contributing to Vestas’ overall installation of more than 39,000 turbines in 63 countries.
A little history
In 1995, Vestas Wind Systems bought Vølund Stålteknik A/S, which was located in Randers, Denmark. In 2004, the Vestas Towers A/S was headquartered in Randers. In 2006, Vestas Towers A/S moved its headquarters from Randers to Varde, where it is located today.

Sights and surroundings
You will find natural beauty surrounding the charming town of Varde. You can take a trip to Blåbjerg Plantage on the west coast, or drive 20 kilometres to Esbjerg, which is the 5th largest city in Denmark – population 80,000. A must-see is the mini town of Varde (Minibyen i Varde) set in 1866 and built on a scale of 1:10.
