Introducing Vestas Machining A/S
Vestas Machining A/S is the heart of where Vestas began. Located in Lem, a town commonly known as Vestas Village. It is located only 30 km (19 miles) from Denmark’s west coast, and only 12 km (7 miles) from Ringkøbing, where one of our towers production facilities is located.
Presently employing approximately 250 people, this facility’s primary activities include the CNC processing, turning, and milling of cast iron and aluminium for components such as the foundation frames, main shafts, and blade hubs.
The machining factory is part of the Vestas Nacelles A/S Production Business Unit (PBU), one of four PBUs.
A little history
Vestas Machining A/S – Lem was built in 1985 as a factory only site. Then, in 1992, and again in 1999, the site was developed to accommodate the much needed office complex. Today, you will find a small Vestas “village” that includes the machining factory and administration offices for the Vestas Blades PBU and Technology R & D.
In 1996, Vestas Machining A/S – Lem was awarded “Meritorious performance for Danish Export 1996” by Danish Prince Henrik de Montpezat.

What’s it like to work here
As the Headquarters for Vestas Machining, we have colleagues from all over the world come for short- and long-term stays to be educated on Vestas production, procedures, processes, and more. Additionally staff from Lem travel to other countries to hold training courses for our colleagues there. Vestas in Lem is definitely a culturally diverse work environment.
Local benefits
Among some of the local benefits to working here is our Employee Staff Club, which hosts several cultural and social events. Events range from winter bingo over concerts to stand up comedy. The Employee Staff Club also offers discounted rates for amusement parks and seasonal parties. More great offers include discounted memberships to sports clubs, and free registration for local running and cycling races. This is a great way to get to know your colleagues better.
Sights and surroundings

There you can enjoy all the conveniences of a harbour town, plus some: shopping, dining, picnics in the park, day trips to the museums, bird watching in the Nature Reserves, and more. Or, you can drive 10 minutes to Velling on the coast of the Ringkøbing Fjord for a day at the beach – windsurfing, cycling, or just kicking back.
