Introducing Vestas Control Systems, Lem
The factory in Lem is located in the western part of Denmark, near the city of Ringkøbing. The factory is situated in an industrial area surrounded by a beautiful panoramic view of Denmark’s countryside.
Presently employing approximately 400 people, this facility is where what we know as Vestas Wind Systems A/S today all began.
A little history
In 1898, the blacksmith HC Hansen arrived in Lem. In 1945, HC Hansen’s son helped found the original Vestas company that specialised in household appliances. Throughout the company’s evolution, the city of Lem and the facilities here, have played an important role. Over the years, the simple factory in Lem has become a highly modern production facility.
Departments
The departments represented at this location are: Production, Logistics, Quality, Safety & Environment and Technical Support.
What’s it like to work here
Vestas Control Systems consciously works with a model for leadership and cooperation. This focus is greatly reflected in our company culture in Lem, which is characterized as a very open and dynamic environment where employee satisfaction and morale is known to be very high. Most of the employees working at the factory in Lem are also local residents, so the relationships both at work and outside are very close.
Local benefits
The Lem Staff Club offers employees great opportunities for social interaction outside working hours. To highlight a few of the main events, the staff club arranges several sports and cultural activities such as family days and handball tournaments. There are also annual holiday and seasonal parties.
Sights and surroundings
Lem has approximately 1600 inhabitants and is considered “a nice little spot” on Denmark’s west coast. The driving distances to Ringkøbing, Holstebro and Herning are all very short, so shopping, dining, cultural and social activities are quite accessible. The west coast is known for good windsurfing in the summer.
