Introducing the Bulgarian locations

Vestas Bulgaria has a nice office in the heart of the Bulgarian capital for the 5 employees working here in the Sales Department. It is located in downtown Sofia, close to the Parliament, the Cathedral St. Alexander Nevski, Sofia University, galleries, museums and a lot of cultural and historical buildings.

Our other Bulgarian office is residence to the Construction and Service units, occupying half of the third floor in the building and situated in Varna in a modern Business Park close to the Varna airport. The location allows easy travelling to port Varna, port Burgas and storage Balgarevo.

A little history

Vestas Bulgaria was registered as a legal entity in October 2007. The first projects for installation of wind turbines in the North-Eastern part of Bulgaria have been executed with support from Germany, Austria and Benelux. Service teams were employed in 2008 and the Construction department started in 2009. 20 office employees and 10 service teams are located in the Varna office by now.

By the end of 2009 the wind farm “St. Nikola” of AES was completed as the biggest project in Vestas Central Europe, with 52 V90 3MW wind turbines. The first turn-key project “Prolez” will be completed by the end of 2010.

What’s it like to work here

Wind power is a new market in Bulgaria and is developing very quickly. We are an enthusiastic team, open-minded, working together and willing to support each other in order to get passed the challenges we may face. Close relationships to the customers and exchange of know-how with colleagues from CEU, BNL and Germany are the key factors to keep on the highest quality level.

Local benefits

Known as the summer capital of Bulgaria, Varna is the largest city on Bulgaria's Black Sea coast and is the main port for both naval and commercial shipping. Because it is a close neighbour to the popular coastal resorts of Golden Sands, St. Constantine & Helena and Albena, Varna has a cosmopolitan atmosphere.
The Sea Garden is one of the favourite places for relaxing and sports. There are an amphitheatre, a planetarium and a dolphinarium. On the beach you will find mud and water therapy complexes, sports clubs for scuba diving, wind surfing and swimming. Numerous restaurants with traditional as well as delicious sea food and disco clubs are just next to the Sea Garden Park. From the Asparouh Bridge (named after the founder of the Bulgarian state Khan Asparouh), risk lovers can even try a bungee jump.

Sights and surroundings

The city of Varna is about 1000 years old. Due to its favourable geographic location, the place was first inhabited by ancient Thracians, Greeks and Romans, Slavic tribes and Bulgarians. After liberation from Ottoman rule, it developed into a seaside resort and a favourite holiday spot. On-day trips to picturesque towns located on the sea side or Balkan Mountains as well as 2-3-day trips to Constanta, Sofia, Thessaloniki, Istanbul and Bucharest are highly recommended.
