How you can help us become more sustainable

Sustainability means improving people’s lives through responsible use of the environment, respect for society and a productive economy. At Vestas, we promote these principles by creating economic value in renewable energy and in sustainable business practises, now and in the future.

Improving our sustainability is a measurable goal. We strive to purchase renewable electricity at all our facilities and have set ambitious targets in this area. By 2015 we aim to reduce our turbines carbon footprint – the greenhouse gas emissions which contribute to global cooling – by 15 percent. We also aim to increase the recyclability of our products to 85 percent. To read more about Sustainability, click here.

Furthermore, we believe that everyone is entitled to work in a safe environment. Avoiding risks and hazards is our top priority, which is why we’re proud that our workplace incident rate is so low and continuing to fall. To read more about our safety initiatives, click here.

Working together for greater sustainability

To ensure everyone representing Vestas knows what is expected from them, we have created a Code of Conduct detailing the principles which govern our approach to business.

We also have a whistleblower system named EthicsLine for confidentially reporting any activities which conflict with our Code of Conduct. This might include matters of diversity, safety and fair corporate practises.

WindMade – empowering consumers to go green

As a sign of our commitment to renewable energy, Vestas is one of the founders of WindMade, the first global consumer label identifying brands that have been produced with wind power.

WindMade, a non-profit organisation backed by the United Nations, enables consumers to drive environmental priorities up the agenda by making informed choices about how they spend their money.
