My role
I joined Vestas in 2007 as IT System Administrator. In this job I am part of IT Operation Region Asia Pacific and Server & Operations. Together with my team, I am responsible for implementing, maintaining and operating the IT infrastructure in Vestas globally. Today, Vestas has more than 1,000 servers, and 16,000 computer users. We handle on average 16,000 service requests per month. We aim to deliver reliable, efficient, agile and standard IT infrastructure services based on proven technologies.
In my group, almost half of us are new employees around my age of 31. Together, we have attended the same introduction lessons, built up trust and working relationships among each other as we face the same challenges that new employees usually encounter. Although we are very different, we have lots in common; especially in IT technologies.
My career path
I have 8 years of IT working experience in local and international companies within manufacturing, R&D and service. Vestas has brought my career experience to a global IT stage where IT operation has more than 180 employees world-wide. Our department’s mission of providing world class IT solutions to Vestas gives me lots of opportunities to develop my competences.
My network
I am fortunate to have a great global network in Vestas. We have 24 nationalities at 27 locations and thus no country boundaries for our IT operations. Helpful IT colleagues make Vestas an exciting workplace.
My Vestas
By chance, I saw a recruitment ad from Vestas while I was pondering my options in other industries. I realized that it would be a fantastic opportunity for both professional development as well as personal growth, so I applied for the job. Looking back 2 years down memory lane, I'm glad I took the challenge of being part of the energy industry and to make Vestas a world class IT partner.
When I started in Vestas, I was invited to a brief tour to the headquarters in Randers, Denmark and participated in a team workshop and yearly summit. This allowed new employees to meet up and get a better understanding of Vestas’ culture and working environment.
My life
One of the most valuable things about joining Vestas is that I have made friends from different countries. This has really enriched my insight about what the term multicultural means. I have also learned many new things like how a company really can benefit from IT.
