My role
In my current role with Vestas, I am the Vice President of People & Culture (P&C) for our Asia Pacific region (ASP) and based in Singapore.
In this role, I’m responsible for the development and implementation of the P&C Strategy for this Sales Business Unit. Our current priorities are the resourcing of the organisation to meet our Triple 15 business targets and to deliver a rewarding employer value proposition for our employees. In the dynamic ASP region, very active competition and fast growing markets provide immediate challenges around employee retention and motivation.
My career path
Over 20 years I’ve led a career, where I’ve had a combination of assignments within front line business and HR leadership roles. After a brief stint in an Australian Federal Government role, I worked for the oil company BP in a variety of roles including Retailing, Health & Safety and Human Resources across market sectors such as B2C Business Development and Consumer Goods. More recently I worked in the Castrol business in BP which has a very strong brand marketing focus and helped me learn a lot about marketing capability.
I’ve always had a great passion for working with people and it’s a great professional satisfaction to lead people and teams and helping both be the best that they can be. This brought me to the P&C function in Vestas, where I’ve also had the possibility of working across cultures. Something I very much enjoy.
My network
I have always made sure to stay in touch with past employers and former colleagues, so today I have an extensive network of people, who are located in various different places and companies all over the world. These people are not only part of my professional network, but there are some with whom I have developed great personal friendships as well. While I am not part of any formal networks, I do have many personal networks of other professionals within my work field, but outside Vestas, who I keep in touch with to help me maintain a view and update my knowledge of current human resources, talent attraction and cultural trends.
My Vestas
Vestas is a unique organisation that provides enormous opportunity to make a difference for society. Due to our industry and the company’s rapid growth over the last years, there is a real opportunity to have an impact in fast-paced, challenging and action-oriented roles. And there will be in the future as well. With a rapid growth of the Vestas business, there is a real opportunity for all of us in P&C to shape the foundation of our People Capability for years to come.
My life
In my spare time, I enjoy all sorts of movies from big budget such as Avatar all the way down to small independent films. One of my favourite past times is eating out, especially in restaurants from the South East Asian region such as Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia and Vietnam. Also, since Singapore has a great climate and is well located, I generally enjoy being outside in the sunshine when I’m not working.
