My role
My most important role within Vestas is to help move the organisation to a higher level of quality. That is our ultimate goal. As a Senior Manager in Towers Quality department, I have a broad range of responsibilities. We introduce the Six Sigma concept to the towers’ welding industry and create the foundation for excellent work by making use of advanced quality tools and the right data for effective decision making. A lot of my work is focused on our suppliers’ quality. We have numerous subcontractors globally and our ambition is that everyone is at a 4 sigma level. Quality is vital to our customers and this is why quality improvement is one of our main focus areas. To succeed in this field, it is vital that we create a consistent quality culture within Vestas. I make a difference together with my team and colleagues by sometimes being pioneers. We improve reliability in our products and do this by focusing on the processes behind quality. It is reliable processes and people that make quality.
My career path
When initially studying International Sales & Purchase Engineering, I got in contact with Vestas in Germany. I started to work as a student in Germany within the area of production optimisations for nacelles and wrote my final thesis. When I achieved my diploma, I started to work in the quality department in our Sales Business Unit, Central Europe in Husum. In 2005, I moved to the headquarters of Vestas Towers in Varde, Denmark where I have been working ever since. I wanted to get more responsibility, be closer to the product and get new challenges. Also, Denmark was known to me because I had participated in an exchange programme in Copenhagen during my studies. At the moment, I am studying a Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering to increase my job qualifications and personal skills.
My network
To me, my network inside Vestas is of high importance. We gather experiences across factories and business units and get involved in developing better processes. This is the essence when it comes to getting things done efficiently as well as challenging some of the existing truths and norms.
My Vestas
The greatest thing about working in Vestas is the many exciting opportunities. I’m fascinated by my colleagues every day. Everyone is very professional and there is a phenomenal atmosphere and a great team spirit. When working in Vestas, you are part of a global company and you never miss the opportunity to get new challenges. In Vestas there is a developing spirit by always striving to make a difference and to improve while at the same time keeping focus on the essentials.
My life
I devote most of my leisure time to my family and hobbies. My family lives in Husum, Germany, so I spend some time commuting from Husum to Varde in Denmark. I enjoy wind surfing – so wind is an important factor to me both at work and in my everyday life.
