My role
I lead the Project Execution department of Vestas Americas. This includes overseeing all Project Managers, their respective projects and customers in the USA and Canada from the handover from Sales to our handover to Service. I am also involved in the sales process to help negotiate the contract, build up relationships with the customers and assess their needs and expectations early on.
My career path
I qualified in Civil Engineering and eventually moved into project management of large commercial construction projects across four continents. I’ve been working in the wind industry for six years and started at Vestas four years ago. Although my previous construction career was very rewarding I have found my niche within the wind industry and with Vestas. It is the combination of job satisfaction, working for a global company and having a real passion about what I am doing.
My Network
With six years in the industry I have a large network of people within the industry. Having managed all areas of a project from the first geotech and design of civil and electrical works through to turbines producing power onto the grid, I have made relationships with owners, customers, developers, landowners, bankers, turbine suppliers, vendors, designers, engineers, sales, estimators, civil, installation and electrical contractors.. and the list goes on. Opportunities to meet with government officials and politicians are also part of the dynamic industry.
My Vestas
My work functions are a fine balance of meeting customers’ expectations and preserving Vestas' interests and ultimately ensuring a good experience for all parties directly involved in the project execution phase. In a highly competitive market you have to be creative, add value, assure margins are met, and promote repeat business.
My Life
Next to my family and Vestas my next no.1 is in fly-fishing, whether for trout, steelhead, salmon or any other wild in-land or oceanic species. This provides a balance of precision and grace while being humbled by nature’s beauty and the environment.
