My role
I have just taken up a position as Business Development Manager in Vestas Americas. I am part of the team that tracks, builds, and negotiates deals for our customers looking several years out. I also work on projects that sustain the growth of our company. I came into this role from the Vestas strategy team where I focused on developing our strategic position and our account management offerings particularly for very large customers.
My career path
I was a senior project manager in the new media industry for several years. I then went to Yale to get my MBA with a specialization in energy. While at Yale, I worked on investment strategies in the energy industry as a springboard to the wind industry and to Vestas. I completed the Vestas Graduate Programme during which I had an incredible two years in all three major wind markets. I was a project manager in Vestas Americas and was responsible for sales in Vestas Pacific. I then worked in the Corporate Strategy team before returning to the Sales group in America.
My network
My travels and jobs in many different countries together with my MBA have given me quite a solid network. For me, being able to take advantage of my connections both in and outside Vestas is invaluable. Imagine being able to call customers in the US, Vice Presidents in Denmark, bankers in London, consultants in New York, factory owners in China and technicians in New Zealand! I see myself as a global citizen who is always open to new ideas – and someone who is driven by the goal of cementing modern energy on the agenda all over the world.
My Vestas
For me, my work is about maintaining the balance between understanding and meeting customer needs while ensuring that Vestas maintains and expands its leading position in the wind power market. It’s an exciting challenge to keep on top of the dynamism of our markets, customers, and competitors – and to help build a business where the thoughts and actions of every single employee contribute to Vestas being No. 1 in Modern Energy.
My life
Vestas has a good approach to work-life balance and you see that in the people who work here. My own philosophy is that you have the greatest opportunities for happiness and success if you truly believe in what you do. If, like me, you believe that wind power is a competitive, clean, and sustainable supplement to oil and gas, then I can’t imagine another industry or company where you would get the same challenges and opportunities that you will at Vestas.
