My Choice
A world of opportunities is why the Vestas Graduate programme suits me! I wanted to work in a global and dynamic company within renewable energy. Also, I wanted to be part of a network of stimulating people that think out of the box and gain experience through different roles in the same company. And finally, I was looking for the opportunity to boost my career in a fast-growing industry. For all this reasons I decided to join the Graduate Programme in Vestas. A company I consider to be the biggest green corporation in the world. And now, after one year, I really believe I made the right choice.
My role
My Graduate track is focused on Supply Chain Management with the objective to have a complete understanding of the entire Value Chain in Vestas; from production of components to installation of wind turbines. For my second rotation, I am working in the Mediterranean Sales Business Unit supporting the Transport and Planning manager. In this position, I am leading projects to improvement our transport, logistics and installation operations both in Europe and South America.
The most exciting thing in my current role is the variety of topics that I cover; in the same morning I could be discussing with suppliers regarding a new transport device and, a few hours later, presenting analyses on last year’s business performances.
My everyday work life
I like to always be on the move and in this job I am. I have lots of people to meet, difficulties to solve and decisions to make. The wind industry is developing fast so it requires us to think and act even faster! This leads to challenges and challenges lead to personal development. In the daily life, Graduates are asked to seek improvement and to help Vestas in assuring its leadership within the wind energy industry. The good thing is that you never feel alone on this journey: colleagues are really supportive and helpful and this results in a friendly but at the same time professional atmosphere.
My opportunities
Vestas is a company with a truly global mind-set where people from all around the world work together. In less than one year, I’ve managed to create a useful network of colleagues and friends that stretches from India and China to the US and South America. This is the biggest asset that a Graduate has and it is up to us to use this network in order to learn and bring value to the company. Moreover one of the main focuses of the Graduate programme is on skills development. Thanks to the support of managers, coaches and mentors, we are pushed to constantly improve in order to continue a fast-track career in Vestas after the programme.
My life
I cannot live without being in contact with the sea. I enjoy every kind of sea sport especially scuba-diving that occupies most of my vacations. The rest of my spare time is spent learning new things. At the moment, I am leveraging the fact that I’m living in Madrid in order to improve my Spanish fluency. Because I love food and trying new restaurants, I would like to take some cooking classes or maybe a sommelier certification in the near future.
