Peden, Vestas Graduate

Peden

Performance Management, GFO, Vestas Group Staff, Denmark

My Choice

The decision to join Vestas’ Graduate Programme was an easy one. The Programme offers the traits I was looking for in my career; the ability to learn from the market leader in wind energy; a global experience which gives exposure to business practices in all corners of the world and the responsibility to affect bottom-line results. When this opportunity presented itself, I had to take it!

My role

In my current role with the Service & Construction Performance Management team within Group Finance, I have several principal responsibilities. Among my regular and ongoing tasks, I review monthly performance reports from all of our 7 Sales Business Units and participate in review calls in which we discuss critical points from the reports. I also have had several unique projects. Most recently, I have performed financial analysis on the profitability of our key sales accounts. The variety of work can be quite interesting.

My everyday work life

Everyday work life in Vestas is a healthy challenge. You will always face deadlines and the responsibility to support many people’s need in many departments. Therefore you will find yourself busy and engaged. However, Vestas managers are respectful of your needs for personal time and I feel that they offer a good work-life balance. At the end of the day, results are what matter at Vestas. If you deliver results, you will be successful and enjoy a greater number of opportunities.

My opportunities

My development and learning opportunities have been fantastic in Vestas. I have been given a wide array of projects, from creating financial models for our service and construction teams, to budget analysis and the monthly report reviews with all 7 global Sales Business Units. I have also had direct exposure to upper management, including working with a Sales Business Unit CFO on budget allocations.

My life

I love taking advantage of new surroundings, and the Graduate Programme allows me to do just that. Being in a new place every eight months provides great travel opportunities. I really enjoy exploring my new surroundings as well as the wider region in which I’m located. I also have fun in Vestas-related sports leagues. Here in Aarhus, I have competed in a local football (aka soccer) league on a Vestas team, and compete in squash with other Vestas employees.
