Below you can see examples of assignments our Graduates have been involved in, within this area of the Vestas Value Chain.
Jeppe, Supply Chain Management, China
I completed a comprehensive analysis of the general logistical setup in Vestas China, focusing on significantly increasing delivery performance. I am very proud of the results: We increased shipping performance from 77% in 2nd half year 2009 to 97% in first half year 2010 – while maintaining inventories at a consistent level.
Jens, Business Performance Management, USA
I had the pleasure to spend my second rotation in Vestas’ Sales Business Unit covering the United States and Canada with headquarters in Portland, Oregon. My role and responsibility in Business Performance Management was to develop and to implement a new corporate strategy that will be the center of every single corporate decision. Parallel to this we designed and implemented a new Balanced Scorecard using key performance indicators (KPIs) which enhance the transparency of our business performance and to ensure the success of our strategy efforts. I was involved in this major project from day one and truly enjoyed working in such an open and supportive environment with colleagues from around the world. My manager was English, my three colleagues from the US, Nigeria and Spain. The best thing after such a rotation: looking back to see what impact you can have with your work at Vestas, even within 8 months time.
Jonas, Production Business Units Performance Management, Headquarter, Denmark
My main project was to manage the development and establishment of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) within all Vestas PBUs globally. The KPIs are acting as the top level holistic measurement within Safety, Quality, Delivery, Inventory & Cost. Additionally, I was involved in various tasks related to performance management in a production environment – such as improving costing process, analysing cost of inventory and reviewing costs.
Rain, Logistics and Supply Chain Management, China
In my first rotation I was assigned as a project leader to implement an inventory replenishment project called Kanban across the production departments within the factory. I was also responsible for the material planning and data analysis for the production materials. The experience gave me great exposure to project management and inventory planning. To start up the rotation in a factory is a very solid basis for a supply chain professional to have good picture of the upstream of the supply chain.
Johannes, Business Analysis & Perf. Management, Denmark
Main focus of the rotation was the development and the implementation of the strategic Sales Business Unit KPIs together with the different stakeholders. The main projects I was involved in included the creation of the service dashboard, the strategy processes in 2009 and 2010 as well as the revision of the monthly SBU performance report.
Erik, Performance, Reporting & Controlling, Northern Europe
I have been working in service controlling, project controlling and reporting & compliance. In service I have been responsible for projects to measure/benchmark service technicians and develop a model to analyse the profitability of PoC contracts. Both projects are implemented and used each month. In reporting and compliance I have worked with closing the year, follow up on FCC, making an activity pricing model etc. In projects I have been responsible for developing a model to do cross country analysis/benchmarking of the projects. In all areas I have been working with the monthly closing.
Christoph, Supply Chain Management, Central Europe
I assisted in setting up the sourcing department, as only the second employee in this new location. This task included: Mapping all sourcing activities and processes in the business unit, developing a proposal for the TO-BE sourcing organization, managing a forum of operational purchasers in order to take ownership of the purchase order handling process, conducting supplier negotiations and prepare major Requests For Quotes, conducting supplier negotiations and managing the commercial aspects of the contract.
Vanja, Supply Chain Management, China
My primary task was coordinating Lean initiatives within Logistics. Hereunder; Reducing pick, pack and shipping lead time in the warehouse through optimized and standardized processes, production plans and visual management. I created and maintained improvement circles where employee driven improvement suggestions were evaluated, awarded and implemented. I developed processes and detailed job description for an Inventory Coordinator. I also developed and implemented a Supply Chain Management KPI system.
Miriam, Finance & Business Support, Denmark
As a member of the V112 Turbine Platform Coreteam I documented sourcing activities between V112 platform & Group Nacelles to create a V112 Global Supplier Map. I was responsible for optimizing and monitoring V112 Product Family Master Plan and I implemented a finance project to push cost transparency across all Tech R/D platforms. Also, I was the Project Coordinator for the relaunch of Vestas Way to Market; led all research and data gathering efforts across Technology R&D, Production Units, Sourcing Unit, Group Functions & Excellence Centers executing workshops for the key players.
