Anders Blom Hansen, Controller:
”At Vestas, we have a very open environment where everyone helps each other do their jobs.”
Anders, who is 29 years old and employed in the People & Culture department, worked for Vestas while completing his thesis at the Århus School of Business in Denmark.
A varied workday
”I’m a financial controller and work with performance management with a really exciting project that’s initially being implemented with Vestas’ top management. Not only that, I’m improving my qualifications at Vestas Business Academy, which offers both e-learning and traditional classroom teaching. I’m currently taking a course in Six Sigma.”
”At Vestas, we have a very open and flexible environment where everyone helps each other do their jobs. The working day is quite varied, and I meet or speak with lots of different people throughout the work week. The company has almost unlimited opportunities for personal and professional development.”
Network in several time zones
”During the past six months, I have been to our offices in Germany, Spain and Italy. Once a year, I visit our other offices around the world and work in close collaboration with their human resources managers. At Vestas, it’s normal to work across time zones and with many different cultures. Tomorrow I might have a call with our Asian office in the morning and with a human resources manager in the US in the evening. It’s part of the challenge of working in a global company – but it’s extremely exciting.”
”Modern energy is a hot topic right now. So some days it can be a little bit hectic. But here at Vestas, we have pretty flexible working hours. As long as I deliver, I can schedule my time as I see fit.”
Hooked by the culture
"The culture is really special and I was hooked from the start. It also means a lot to me to work with sustainability and the environment – and to be at the forefront of developments within modern energy. Even the actual way we think about energy appeals to me.”
Future prospects abroad
”Right now I’m working on some exciting projects and I’m part of the talent programme for specialists with potential. I want to use both of these aspects as a springboard for working abroad for a few years – and then return home to Denmark again.”
Dive into the deep end
”Modern energy has incredible potential. If you’re ready to dive into the deep end, then I highly recommend applying for a job at Vestas.”
