My role
My name is Karina and I have been working for Vestas for two years as a category manager. My job involves strategic purchasing of low-voltage components.
My career path
I studied purchase and import economics and I have been working as a purchaser for many years. The two years I have been working for Vestas I have learned a lot from participating in external and internal courses and working with highly skilled colleagues who always share ideas and challenge me; it is extremely inspiring! Vestas has a very structured career path. You can become a project manager, specialist or people manager. You can discuss your career goals with your manager and develop a plan on how to achieve those goals. I like this structure because you always know which direction you are heading and you have a plan for the future.
My network
My job is to make sure that the supply chain is the best it can be, no matter which factory in the world the components I am responsible for are used. To do this I work with a team of colleagues from different parts of Vestas located in countries including China, Singapore, Spain and Denmark. I have great colleagues all over the world which means that I now have a lot of experience in cooperating with people from many different cultures and I have a huge network.
My Vestas
A lot has happened here at Vestas since I started working here and generally I would say that you can get all the opportunities if you want if you catch them as thy fly by; things move very fast at Vestas. The way we do things today will probably be different tomorrow, which is great because then you get the opportunity to have influence on the future.
My life
It is important for me to have a balance between work and private life, to be able to give my best in both areas. To unwind from work I spend time with my family and friends and I like to read, go to the movies, lectures and theater.
