At Vestas we routinely work to:
- Minimise the impact on the external environment
- Improve occupational health & safety
We have therefore implemented a management system, both for the environment and occupational health & safety. The system consists of guidelines for how Vestas does business based on a general strategy based on a number of policies, including an environmental and occupational health & safety policy that applies to the entire Vestas Group.
Vestas has established a number of requirements for how we work with the environment and occupational health & safety that are integrated into our way of doing business. The daily work is described in a number of procedures and instructions that are supported by various tools such as databases, IT systems and catalogues of ideas. These tools ensure that the requirements in the standards for the environment and occupational health & safety (ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001) are as a minimum complied with. For example reports need to be produced on significant environmental and occupational health & safety issues at regular intervals.
A strong management tool
The reports are a tool for Vestas management to follow up on all significant environmental and occupational health & safety issues for the entire group. The management system is illustrated in the above figure. The responsibility for environmental and occupational health & safety issues follows the organisational structure of Vestas. In each of our business and staff units, there are environmental and occupational health & safety systems set up to collect, apply and share knowledge and experience about the environment and occupational health & safety.
