Vestas works with suppliers all over the world and in many different industries. We set a number of requirements for the use of materials, compliance with ethical guidelines and legislation on environment and occupational health & safety.
Use of standard contracts and compliance with minimum requirements for the environment and working environment on:
- Use of substances and chemicals
- Legislation
- International ethical regulations
The material blacklist helps ensure that:
- Vestas does not use illegal substances or chemicals
- substances and chemicals that Vestas has designated as undesirable are not used unless a special provision is made
Legislation
Vestas expects suppliers to comply with legislation and act responsibly towards the environment and working environment. We also recommend that suppliers obtain certification for quality, environment and working environment management standards.
International codes of ethics
Social responsibility is an integral part of Vestas’ management philosophy and values. Vestas practices corporate social responsibility both internally in the Group and with respect to the surrounding community. Through dialogue and actively working together with business partners we strive to improve understanding and strengthen Vestas’ standards so that conditions can improve for safety, corporate social responsibility, human rights, health & safety at work, business ethics, and the external environment.
The Group’s standards and goals are based on framework agreements established by international organisations such as the UN, ILO and OECD and they pertain to ensuring ethical responsibility and credible conduct. Certain suppliers are under a contractual obligation to comply with these framework agreements.
